Going to put out an e-book to raise money for a Mic an other endeavors. I think it has something to do with the energy efficient setting, along with the Ram it is taking to use high Sierra and back up internal processors that run automatically.

I can also get back to a full display, which I was not able to do currently. I did this for both the battery tab and the power adapter tab. I took off automatic graphic switching, and I unchecked put hard disks to sleep when possible, and I unchecked slightly dim display while on batter power. I clicked on the battery icon on my home screen, and looked and then click open energy saver preferences. This left me with 8GB of storage on to run Adobe Premiere, presumably.ģ. In the "reserve RAM for other applications" I left 8GB of space for the OSX and any back up internal stuff I have going on.

I went into Premiere Pro preferences and clicked on Memory. I turned the voice talk feature off first.Ģ. I figured High Sierra's OSX was running at larger RAM capacity.ġ. I just hope Adobe knows about this and is going to fix this issue, because my older iMac from 2011 is much faster running Illustrator than this brand new awesome machine with 40GB or RAM. The combination may not be as vast which is why I may now have been able to find anything online.

I know it hasn't been too long since the 10.13.2 OS update, the Illustrator 2018 update and the fact that I'm using an upgraded i7 iMac. I wanted to see if anyone was having the same issue.

I do have an older version of CC- from back in 2013 that works and is fast, so obvoulsly this is an issue that Adobe needs to update for 2018 to match the new GPU driver that Apple is putting out. I talked to Apple and they said I can roll back the OS, but that's just not an option right now considering I would have to wipe my machine clean (no Time- Machine of the previous OS). The other iMac was not OS updated and is still on 10.13.1. I noticed under the Preferences, under Performance in Illustrator that the ATI Radeon GPU version is 4.1 ATI-1.60.24 whereas the other iMac we have is 4.1 ATI-1.58.32. I thought maybe it was the Illustrator 2018 causing the problem, but I uninstalled it and the had the same issue with the previous 2017 version. If you then jump to Preview mode it's super fast and smooth.įrom what I've been able to come up with is that the Radeon version of the driver has been updated through the OS update. If I open a new document and just draw a few simple squares, it's so slow in moving objects in Artwork mode. Sometimes the full color Preview mode could be slow but the black and white Artwork mode for the most part is always faster. This is normally the opposite when working with large files. The issue I'm seeing is that using Adobe Illustrator 2018 in Artwork mode is painfully slow and laggy. I also updated my Adobe software as well to 2018 versions.

I did the OS 10.13.1 to the 10.13.2 upgrade immediately. Definitely sweet machines that are replacing my old 27" iMac i7 from 2011. So I just received direct from Apple, 2 new 27" 5K iMacs - i7 Upgrade (4.2GHz quad-core 7th-gen i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz), with 40 GB of Ram and the Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB video memory. Hopefully someone else can share in my frustration because I haven't been able to find anything online reflecting this issue.
